Meet Dozer: A story of survival and hope

Dozer's journey began in heartbreak. On December 11th, 2024, he was found in dire condition — emaciated, weak, and suffering from a severe skin infection that covered much of his body. Thanks to a compassionate community member who refused to look away, Dozer was rescued just in time and placed into the loving care of one of our dedicated fosters.

With round-the-clock care, specialized nutrition, and love, Dozer began to heal. But his skin condition persisted. He was transferred to another foster who could provide him specialized care in march. He’s been under the expert care of groomer and certified canine Esthetician of Platinum Paws in Omak, WA, receiving medicated baths on a daily schedule.

But Dozer’s battle isn’t over. Despite months on targeted antibiotics, his skin condition hasn’t improved. After further veterinary consultation, Dozer was diagnosed with antibiotic-resistant staph and E. coli infections — a rare and difficult condition to treat. Local veterinarians have now exhausted their resources.  The team has decided to seek counsel from Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and advanced dermatology care.

Dozer's recovery is expected to be long and expensive. He will need intensive testing, customized treatment plans, and likely long-term care to overcome this resistant infection. But we believe he’s worth every bit of it — and we know our community does too.

Your support can help us continue this fight for Dozer. Whether through donations, sharing his story, or providing resources, you are part of his journey.
